Thoth, often represented as an ibis or a man with an ibis head, is a major figure in Egyptian religious thought. He is connected with writing, scribes, calculation, truthful speech and ritual formulas. His roles changed across periods and cult centers, so he should not be reduced to a simple god of magic. He represents intelligence able to name, measure and restore order.
Language as a force
In Egyptian thought, language is not neutral. Naming allows recognition, transmission and understanding. A modern practice inspired by Thoth can be writing exactly what you feel before interpreting it. A clear sentence does not solve everything, but it gives emotion a form.
Thoth and the Moon
